| January - February 2007 |
After I had such a rewarding catch at the end of last year, I'd thought to give the lake a rest in January, especially when the weather wasn't great either. But I couldn't help myself and I banked a few like this stunning 37lb double linear. Anyway we didn't have much of a winter and February came quick with mild temperatures. Dad and I managed to land a few fish while we were doing some work on the lake. Re-doing the swims was a good reason to have a couple of rods out. We had a good haul and counted 32 fish between both of us as follows - 6 doubles, 27lb, 30lb common, 29lb, 27lb, 37lb, 39lb, 23lb, 21lb, 37lb, 46lb, 25lb, 25lb, 21lb, 21lb, 44lb, 32lb common, 25lb, 37lb, 45lb, 45 3/4lb, 34lb, 27lb, 48lb, 30lb, 32lb, 37 1/2lb. Dad topped his catch with an awesome 48lb which he caught it before at 32lb! And I was more than pleased with my share. Who said the work and pleasure don't go hand in hand?? |
| End of 2007 |
Ending 2007 and looking forward to the start of another fishing year, I thought to bring you up to date with a few changes at Etang des Royales and tally up for the season just passed. 2007 was very busy for us on the lake, making it very difficult for me to do much carp fishing. The time I did have was catching some catfish as we have decided to make the small lake home to most of our catfish with many already transferred and established, to nearly 90lb. Hopefully by 2009 season new swims will be built and it will be used solely for cats. Until then our guests will still be able to fish it for carp, any over 20lb will be transferred to the big lake. Our main lake has produced four different 50lb plus carp in 2007, so now we are offering a free weeks fishing for the first over 60lb as we did for the first 50lb +. This free weeks holiday was won by Kevin “Biggie” Jefferies for the double linear at 52 1/2lb. All the other free holidays still stand. We are also changing a few swims to allow a fewer amount of anglers, 10 maximum, more room to play the fish as they are all getting a lot bigger. Hopefully we’ll see you on the bank. Remember, you have got to be in it to win it!! Tight lines! |
