For the majority of my fishing
I use this bottom bait rig, comprising of a semi-fixed
lead with a Korda safety clip, the hooklink being 5-8"
in length using a coated braid stripped back to about
3" from the hook. Using a size 8 barbed
hook setup in a line-aligner rig tied with a knotless
knot with the hair coming off just opposite the point
of the hook. |
|
As you can see from the rig I wrap my baits
in netting (available on-site) to protect
them from nuisance fish, which we advise to use with all
boilies. |
|
Once the bait is wrapped, it is tied with
braid using a slip knot. |
|
Once the tag ends are trimmed off, I then
melt the tag end of mesh just to secure the mesh and stop
the knot from slipping. After being in the water for a
couple of hours this netting becomes almost invisible. |
|
The finished article mounted on the hair
with about 1/2" of exposed hair material. You will
notice the shrink tube aligned to the point of the hook.
Once I have landed a fish on this I will always
re-steam the tubing just to maintain the position. |
