Etang Des Royales - Lake Records
Our fish surprise us every year, we now have a huge head of stunning fish many of which have exceeded our expections, below are detailed the current lake records.
Current Carp Record - Mark 'Pud' Parsley - May 2010 - 68lb
First time caught by Ben 7 years ago, she weighed just 24lb. In 2007, Kevin Jefferies, aka Biggie, caught her at 52 ½lb, a free weeks fishing for the first customer to catch a 50lb+. In May 2008, Steve Munday, had her grace his net at 55 ¾lb, later in November 2008, Alan Sibbald landing her at 62lb. And now in May 2010, Mark is establishing a new lake record, our 'Jewel' weighed in at 68lb in prime condition!
Thanks once again to John and Ben for a super week! The food was top notch again and the barbecue night was fantastic. It has been the best fishing week of my life catching The Double Linear at a massive 68lb, a day I will never forget and bagging 19 other fish of such good quality. I am so glad that John and his family make us, the Suffolk Carp Crew, feel so welcome every time we arrive. All the best to you all!
EPITAPH
Ten years on and one thing you always wish that won't happen has!!! On the 31st of July, a large body of a fish was spotted floating on the point of the island... on retrieving the fish my fears were realized, The Jewel aka The Double Linear. The words that uttered from my mouth cannot be written.
She had been swimming around for 10 years and only getting caught once or twice a year. Ben caught her for the first time at 24lb and she was last caught in November 2011 at 66.6lb. She had eluded many a good angler that has fished here and had made a dream come true for anglers that have landed her. Hopefully she will still be a talking point and stories told about her capture in the years to come as we intend to have her set up in a glass case for all to admire.
Current Catfish Record - Neville James - April 2008 - 104 ¾lb
First foreign trip, first carp was first ever 40. First trip for cats, first cat 104 ¾lb. What more can an angler ever wish for? Good food, great service and help from Ben and John. Spot on! Thanks all - LIVING THE DREAM!
